Chocolate Pizza Bark

Chocolate Pizza Bark

Chocolate Pizza Bark – This treat is an absolute showstopper! Inspired by the many chocolate bark recipes floating around online, I’ve given mine a playful twist and re-named it pizza bark—a nod to my kids’ excitement over the chocolatey, pizza-like creation I was making.

The term bark comes from the way the chocolate layer is spread thin, much like tree bark. The beauty of this recipe is that, because the chocolate is melted and spread so lightly, you actually eat far less chocolate than you might expect. Instead, most of the goodness comes from the nutrient-rich toppings that make it look (and taste) so irresistible.

This recipes is wonderfully versatile. You can easily tailor the toppings to your own taste. Sprinkle over seeds and chopped nuts for a big mineral boost—zinc, selenium, and magnesium. Good-quality dark chocolate (at least 85% cocoa) is naturally rich in healthy fats and contains no added sugar. You can take it up a notch with a dusting of superfood powders such as acai, maca, lucuma, or maqui, or add crunch and immune-supporting benefits with bee pollen. The possibilities are endless!

For my version, I simply melt a good-quality dark chocolate with at least 85% cocoa and no added sugar. While I’m experimenting with a homemade chocolate recipe, I find that high-quality store-bought chocolate can be both affordable and delicious, making it a great option for this recipe.

So get creative with this one and see what you come up with.

INGREDIENTS

· 100 gm dark chocolate

· 1 tablespoon shredded coconut

· 1 tablespoon goji berries (or other dried berries such as blueberries)

· 2 tablespoon raw almonds, roughly chopped

· 1 tablespoon pepitas, roughly chopped

DIRECTIONS

1. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a small saucepan. Heat the chocolate over a medium-low heat and watch it carefully. Stir the chocolate to help it melt. You don't want to leave it unattended as it can be easily spoilt.

2. Line a round or square baking dish with grease proof paper.

3. Once the chocolate is melted, pour it into your baking dish and spread it around into a thin layer over the dish.

4. Sprinkle the toppings over the chocolate.

5. Place the baking dish into the fridge until it is set.

6. Chop up the chocolate into bite sized pieces and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
